Inauguration of WPC
Through the celebration of “International Women’s Day-2019” on March 10, 2019 WPC, BRUR was inaugurated. A day long programme was set, with events like: pledge collection, drawing competition, drawing exhibition. The UN country representative Shoko Ishikawa, CPJ BRAC University representatives, Vice Chancellor of BRUR Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah and many others were present at the programme. And on that day the very first executive committee of Women Peace Café, BRUR was announced along with a mentoring panel.
Along with mentors, WPC executive committee members attended the National Colloquium on “Empowering Young Women” organized by CPJ, BRAC University on 30th March, 2019. In presence of Dr. Manzoor Hasan OBE Executive Director of CPJ, BRAC University, both the Vice Chancellor of BRUR and JKKNIU and others certificate was given to the WPC members for completing the training.
Iftar and Meet-up
On May 10, 2019 WPC, BRUR arranged their first formal meeting of all executive committee members and mentors. An Iftar mahfil also held on that day. Md. Nyeem Hasan Khan, Assistant Commissioner (Land) & Executive Magistrate, Gangachara, Rangpur attended the meet-up, was quite interested about WPC initiatives and told to ask for an kind of support from his administrative area.
Young Women as Leaders and Peace Builders
Representatives (few mentors and members) of Women Peace Café, Begum Rokeya University Rangpur attended a roundtable on “Young Women as Leaders and Peace Builders” as invited by Centre for Peace and Justice, BRAC University on September 5, 2019. And they went for a meeting at CPJ office for sharing future work plan.
Exposure Visit at JKKNIU
On 28th November at the inauguration programme of Women Peace Café, JKKNIU a team of mentor and executive committee members had an exposure visit at Trishal as invited by CPJ, BRAC University. They had collaboration and sharing of ideas there.
A debate competition has been organized by Women Peace Café, BRUR at 4th December, 2019. Different team from different departments of BRUR participated the competition and had debates on issues regarding peace and women.
Promotion of WPC, BRUR
To promote WPC, BRUR an article was wrote and published in 16th July from the Campus Magazine of BRUR (1st online edition) detailing the background, running activities and aim and objective of WPC, BRUR.
A virtual meeting held on 29th July with executive committee members and mentors of WPC, BRUR. On that meeting in presence of Chief Patron and Focal person of WPC, BRUR the announcement of mentor panel for 3rd phase were officially done.
